Today was the puppies first day outside and also the first time they have all been together since shortly after they were born. There was much crying( screaming) as at first the puppies did not like the" great outdoors" ! They quickly exhausted themselves and enjoyed snoozing together.

With such a large litter - there are 3 sittings. The two smalllest have a private session with Addie as Keifer looks on. The rest of the puppies are divided into 2 groups .The girls nurse with Mom while the boys are bottlefed and begin play/ eating their "smoothies" and then 2 hours later we switch!

Here are some of the boys resting after a strenuous session of bottle feeding! The girls and boys are rotated every 3 hours now- while one group is bottle fed - the other group is with Addie. It is hectic to say the least!Relief is in sight- in another 10 days the Baby Bergers will begin to feed themselves with an occasional top up from Mom and the bottle!

I am heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of our beloved Balki.
Balki was the kindest boy- he touched so many lives in his capacity of a Therapy dog. He worked at the Grimsby library, inner city Hamilton schools and visited many nursing homes. He was a true ambassador for the breed and I will miss him terribly. Balki I will see you at the Rainbow Bridge my dear, sweet boy.

Whether it was participating in the Leonberger Club of Ontario's Booster or just enjoying Leo fellowship -we all had a great time at the St.Catharines Kennel club show held at the Beamsville Fairgrounds. Fourteen month old Braunson(Addie/Rogue son) had a great day posing for the photographer. He is owned and loved by Colleen and Gary Stamp.

Yesterday was a very exciting day here at the farm!!!. The production unit arrived complete with a 12 car entourage, make up trailer and a truck load of sound and camera equipment.!Our Leonberger puppies were selected to be part of a commercial for Foto Source which will air nationally from October to December,
Six of our 9 week old "E" litter puppies returned to participate.
The scenario was a little girl choosing her first puppy. Our Baby Bergers charmed both cast and crew!!! The director was thrilled at how our puppies performed their scene of loving a child effortlessly!!!!!!

Well it was a big outing today for all the puppies as we went off to the vet for our "well puppy checks" and micro chipping. Everyone came home and slept for 2 hours after the "exhausting" excursion!

CMT's Pick A Puppy and Concorde Ridge Leonbergers

It has been so exciting!!! We were asked if we would be part of CMT's new reality show Pick A Puppy. This show centres around one family's search for the "perfect puppy." The family lists 3 breeds they are interested in learning more about. The program then tracks the family as they visit breeders and learn more about each of their selected breeds. Based on their visits the family determines which breed is the "right fit" for them. Everyone must wait and watch the show for the final choice!What a great venue for people to become educated about different breeds of dogs!
The production unit arrived at the farm on Sunday and was here for approx 3 hours- our Leos and baby bergers had a great time! Whether our puppy is selected or not- I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with the prospective family and am appreciative of having the opportunity to share information about my favorite topic!!!!

It was a big day for the puppies yesterday , at 3 weeks old, they finally figured out that the content of the puppy dishes was actually consumable and not strictly for playing in!

As you can see the puppy smoothies ( goats milk , yogurt and cottage cheese)were delicious to eat as well as to wear! Addie had a tasty time cleaning up her baby bergers!

Addie's litter week 2

The puppies continue to grow and are becoming MUCH more vocal during "awake time", Addie nurses about every 3 hours and always comes to get me just before she goes in the whelping box- bottle in hand we both feed the little squirmers! Addie's food has been increased to 3 times her normal amount in order to keep up with milk production. All the puppies' eyes and ears are open now so it is a whole new world for them!

It is a sad day here at the farm as we said good-bye to our beloved standard poodle Donny. Donny was a homebred and devoted to our family. He was our white shadow- accompanying our daughters jogging, waiting patiently in the barn with me on "foal watches",welcoming friends to our home and dutifully warning off strangers. He had beauty as well as brains and appeared in the very last Eaton's commercial.

He was kind and patient with the many puppies we have raised and he will be sadly missed. Donny you were not a good dog, you were a great one. I wish you warm spring days, rabbits to chase and long car rides with all the windows rolled down. I will see you at the Rainbow Bridge my friend.
